Library of Things

The speciality items in this growing collection give you access to technology, equipment, and resources you may not have at home. You can learn something new, refresh an old skill, explore or test to see if you want to purchase it yourself.

Simply ask a staff member who will retrieve the item and issue it to your membership. There is a very small fee to hire.

Currently the collection contains:

  • Loan Period: 2 weeks ($2 fee per loan period).
  • Borrowers: must be 13 years old or older
  • Holds: Available on all items in this collection.
  • Renewals: Items may be renewed once.
  • Returns: All speciality items must be returned inside to the library you borrowed it from.

Our normal terms and conditions apply when you borrow an item from the this collection. When you borrow these items, you are responsible for:

  • Returning it by the due date, clean and in the same condition as when you borrowed it.
  • Any loss, theft or damage that occurs to the item while it is on loan to you (which will be invoiced).
  • Reading and following any instructions included with the item.
  • Using items in a safe and proper manner, and only for the purposes for which it is intended and/or as set out in the instructions.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Libraries Tararua assumes no responsibility or liability for any injuries, damage to self, others, or property as a result of any use or reliance on the item you have borrowed. Nothing in this disclaimer is intended to limit your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.

If you discover a fault with the item or if it is damaged, please stop using it immediately and return it to Libraries Tararua.
