Hell Reading Challenge

Read Books – Earn Pizza!

Libraries Tararua is pleased to offer the Hell Reading Challenge.  This exciting initiative encourages tamariki to read more, and develop a lifelong love of books, with a tasty reward at the end.

How it Works:

  1. Visit any Libraries Tararua branch and pick up a Pizza Wheel from the front counter.
  2. Read a book and then either take the book & the Wheel, or a review card & the Wheel, to the front desk. Show the staff member, and they will sign off a pizza segment.  (NOTE:  we'll sign off a maximum of one pizza slice per week, and we like to have a brief chat about the book or you can hand in a review card)
  3. Once the wheel is fully complete with seven slices, the library will authenticate it with an official stamp.
  4. Take your stamped wheel to any Hell Pizza location (in person) and enjoy a FREE kids’ pizza!
  5. Get a new Wheel, and start over. You can complete as many Wheels as you like.

Download a review card here (or pick some up at the library).

Who Can Take Part?

This challenge is open to all children in school years 1–8.

Important Dates:

  • Challenge runs until: 31 December 2026
  • Claim your free pizza (by handing over your Pizza Wheel in person at a Hell's Pizza store) by: 31 January 2027

This is a fun, rewarding way to boost reading confidence and celebrate progress. Whether your child is just beginning their reading journey or already devouring chapter books, there’s something in this challenge for everyone.

On the back of the wheel you will find a QR code and a voucher code, and also the terms and conditions. Be careful not to write or stamp over the QR code as this will cause problems when redeeming wheels.
